ABOUT THE SHOW

The Importance of Being Earnest: A trivial comedy for serious people by Oscar Wilde, often cited as the funniest play ever written will be the first production produced by Amplified Arts' Academy program that focuses on the exploration and presentation of classic and contemporary straight plays with the early-career artists (13 – 18yrs) in Sullivan County. Amplified Arts is also collaborating with the Newport School District to offer students a chance to earn an Extended Learning Opportunity (ELO) credit. Future plans include increasing student opportunities in art, film, competitive theatre, and music

Under the artistic direction of award-winning youth theatre director and Amplified Arts founder Shelly Hudson, 12 Sullivan County actors bring to life this classic satire in this inaugural production.

The story: Two young gents use the same pseudonym (Ernest) on the sly, which works well until they both fall in love using that name, which leads to a comedy of mistaken identities.
