Stage 32 Presents: How to Tame a Dame ~ Written and Directed by U-32 Senior Evelyn Rocha, this brand-new play is a bold and feminist reimagining of The Taming of the Shrew. Parksville, California, 1953 — In a suburban town where tradition reigns and gender roles are set in stone, How to Tame a Dame flips the script in this surreal and biting satire.
1590? More Like 1950! This play-within-a-play shifts from a 1960s classroom to a 1950s suburb, blending vintage sitcoms and instructional videos in a sharp, witty take on Shakespeare. Kate resists her expected gender role, but as the men around her scheme and society pressures her to conform, she becomes trapped and we learn just what lengths men will go to ”Tame a Dame.” Please note that this play deals with mature themes. Recommended rating: PG-13.
